To Park or Not to Park

Redesigning the parking sign to make it human readable

Nikki Sylianteng, a designer living in New York, has redesigned the nightmarish parking sign to make it do something incredible: to be understood. Rather than the elaborate, incomprehensible garble of condensed times and dates, the signs use a minimalist, easily understandable graph.

To Park or Not to Park is a parking sign redesign and urban intervention project run by Nikki Sylianteng, who’s been hit with one too many parking tickets despite her best efforts and thinks there must be a better way. The current design is in no way perfect but will evolve over time with the help and feedback from real drivers and people like you.
