Text-Based Multiplayer Shooter

The Text-based Multiplayer Shooter takes all the best from text-based adventure games and turns it into a first person shooter. It's the hardest game I've ever played, I have no idea what's going on and I lasted 2 seconds. I'm not kidding.

When I joined a room, all I saw was this:

You took 48 points of damage from NORTH by lillToast!

You took 48 points of damage from NORTH by lillToast!

You were killed by lillToast in NORTH! Type 'respawn' to respawn.

And I was dead. Best of luck to you.

Welcome! To start playing you first got to log into the system. Type 'login ' to do so (< > indicate a value, don't type these). Your account is created automatically the first time.

Text-based shooter? Are you kidding me?

Not at all. I wanted to take a little time off from working on Pioneers and do something else for a change. Willing to spend only a few evenings tinkering I couldn't undertake anything massive.

So. This so called game is a text-based multiplayer shooter, inspired by the classic XKCD comic which I always found hilarious. You move around by typing commands like GO NORTH and TURN WEST. By typing LOOK you might find other players nearby. Turn to face them and type FIRE as fast as you can. If you hit anything, fire again, this time even faster. You can forget how good you are aiming with your mouse - typing speed matters in this.

This is a prototype, so it's kind of raw and most likely buggy but nonetheless, happy fragging!
