Boston Dynamic's Cheetah Running at 45 km/h

Remember how, one day, everyone was on the Internet? And then, all of a sudden, everyone had cell phones? And then smart phones? I'm having this debate with one of my friends that robots are next. And I'm not talking the kind of stuff like the Roomba that iRobot is pumping out, but the real hardcore machines like the ones that Boston Dynamic is currently testing.

Cheetah Robot is a fast-running quadruped developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA. It just blazed past its previous speed record, getting up to 28.3 mph, about 0.5 mph faster than Usain Bolt's fastest 20 meter split. This version of the Cheetah Robot runs on a treadmill with offboard power. Testing on an untethered outdoor version starts early next year.
