Stephen Hawking Loses $100 Bet Over Whether the Higgs-Boson Actually Existed

According to Caroline Crampton of the NEw Statesman, there many be one person who is "disappointed" by the discovery of the Higgs-Boson: Stephen Hawkings. It's all tongue-in-cheek, of course and despite his physical limitations, Hawkings manages to deliver an explanation and a smile about his loss.

Professor Stephen Hawking has lost a 48-year-old bet with Gordon Kane of Michigan University over whether the Higgs boson exists, and is now $100 out of pocket.
