That friendly, firm, re-assuring female voice found at over 200 airports actually belongs to a real person. From this article on Yahoo!:

Carolyn Hopkins - you don't know her name, but you probably know her voice.

The 63-year-old woman from northern Maine is the voice of more than 200 airports worldwide. She's also the official spokeswoman of the New York City subway. And she works from home.
