White House: "there is no extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race"

According to Mashable's Zachary Sniderman, any petition that on We the People gains 25,000 signatures will be passed along to a top policymaker who will respond. Reportedly, the White House answered two petitions which asked the government to "formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race" and to "immediately disclose the government's knowledge of and communications with extraterrestrial beings."

What is strange about this is that the White House would answer this particular petition -- both with less than 25k signatures combined -- instead of "handling more controversial topics such as those addressing the electoral college, Keystone XL Pipeline or same-sex marriage."

This is what the White House said in response:

Thank you for signing the petition asking the Obama Administration to acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence here on Earth.

The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public's eye.
