WikiLeaks Is Good for the American Democracy

The problem behind the leaked US Embassy Cables isn't that it may render relationships between countries tense or make the job of an ambassador harder: that's always been the case and it won't be that much different now than it already was then.

The real issue with the disclosed documents is the risk that the average American citizen may discover that many of the things their government has been doing -- with the public's tax money and at the cost of young Americans sent to war -- it should not have been doing.
