While we're still a long time away from having starships orbiting our planet ready to take us to the corners of our galaxy, the first steps in reaching that point have begun: The Spaceship Co, or TSC -- a joint venture owned by Mojave-based Scaled Composites and British billionaire Richard Branson's space tourism company, Virgin Galactic -- is set to begin construction on Tuesday at the Mojave Air and Space Port.

TSC wants to build space vehicles capable of bringing six passengers into Earth's sub-orbit, where they would experience weightlessness and see the curvature of the Earth. The price for the experience: $200,000 USD.
