Making a Bookshelf out of Coloured Pencils

In the appropriately named Variations from Normal blog, author Dominic Wilcox has built a bookshelf by gluing together two rows of coloured pencils. To fit the theme and support the (surprisingly sturdy) shelf, he's used pencil cases sawn into two parts as brackets.
