Part one of the fan-made Star Wars film A Light in the Darkness has been released. I watched this last night and I was very pleasantly surprised. It maintains that fun lightheartedness of shorts like TROOPS, while still delivering a surprisingly great story -- unlike most other fan-based videos I've seen to date.
In fact, the word surprisingly applies to just about everything I saw: the effects, the quality of the acting, the scenography, the way the movie is shot, down to a believable Star Wars themed story -- and it all becomes even more amazing when you realize it was all done with a laughable budget. Even the little bit of cheesiness in some of the acting is palatable and doesn't detract from story. Check out the trailer and part one here. Can't wait for part two.
