After Canada lost 5-2 against the US while playing hockey--a national sport Canadians take pride in believing they know how to play--Buzz Aldrin, the second person to set foot on the Moon following mission commander Neil Armstrong, told Canadians that the media makes an awful big thing about how many gold medals are won and who's first. "That's not the point," said Aldrin in an interview with The Canadian Press, "the point of the Olympics are about improving with each competition, motivate their teammates and reach new limits".
