Fina, the world swimming governing body, in response to the 78 world records broken by swimmers wearing the Speedo LZR Racer suit, have stipulated that swimsuits should not cover the neck and must not extend past the shoulders and ankles. Fina reminded competitors that "the main and core principle is that swimming is a sport essentially based on the physical performance of the athlete".
