The day the Muzak died

On Tuesday, Muzak Holdings LLC, the company that creates ambient instrumental music usually found in elevators and supermarkets, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. With screens appearing where the music once played and the advent of the Mp3 player, among other things, Muzak could only struggle to find an audience for its watered-down pop-music favourites.
