Why "Terms and Conditions" are too hard to understand

The terms and conditions found on pretty much anything today are so complex to understand because they are purposely designed to skew the balance of power in the company's favour, not yours.

How often do you really read the terms and conditions when you sign up to a new social media platform, or streaming service, or anything else on the internet? Rarely, if ever? That's one of the best ways a company can keep you in its clutches, but there are ways that mean you always know what you're signing up for - from comics, to apps, to just plain English.
