In their In a Nutshell series, Kurzgesagt argues that we need to rethink our calendar to better reflect not just our collective history, but how quickly we went from small hunting and gathering societies to terraforming an entire planet to suit our needs. The video goes on to propose we adapt the Holocene Calendar by Cesare Emiliani, marking the first organised temple built by humans 12,000 years ago as Day 1. This, effectively, places us in the year 12,016.

We need a new year 0 for humanity. But which one should we choose and why?
