Cable Getting Cut

Netflix consumes more bandwidth than Torrents

With Netflix now counting for 37% of Internet traffic during peak times, it should perhaps not come as a surprise that "new data out Thursday from eMarketer" indicates that "23% of U.S. households won’t pay for traditional TV" by 2019. This traffic spike may be explained by the fact that Netflix uses piracy sites to figure out what it should buy.

Overall, the total number of households that don't subscribe to pay-TV—a combination of cord-cutters and the far more common “cord-nevers” who had never signed up in the first place—will hit 20.8 million by the end of 2015, according to eMarketer, or about 17% of U.S. households.
