I'm not an astronomer but this little kit from Minty Geek for an Astronomer's Torch is geeky enough that I may pick up the passion just because of it.
The joy of using something you have made yourself is incalculable. How much more fun to actually build your own Astronomer's torch and then have the satisfaction of using it? There are many Astronomer's Torches on the market but Minty Geek wanted to produce a torch with a good controllable light source capable of giving red and white light which, because of the height adjustable auxiliary lights, is ideally suited to those who wish to sketch at a telescope. You will need only basic soldering skills and even the least experienced geek should be able to finish the project in less than an hour.
