If you ever find yourself in Joe Paterno's shoes, John Scalzi has put together this easy guide on what you should probably do:

When, as an adult, you come come across another adult raping a small child, you should a) do everything in your power to rescue that child from the rapist, b) call the police the moment it is practicable.

Joe Paterno was fired by the Penn State Board of Trustees for "failing to contact authorities in 2002 after being told a graduate assistant saw former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky assaulting a boy in a school shower".
