After Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker
proposed a budget bill that would strip the state's unions of their collective bargaining rights, at least 30,000 Wisconsin citizens have turned out to protest
. The governor is threatening to respond by calling in the National Guard -- and some are suggesting the use of live ammunition
on the crowds, a move that would make Gaddafi proud.
Despite these threats, the unrest has now spread throughout the mid-western United States, and labour activists in Ohio and Indiana are also protesting against pending anti-union legislation.
BuzzFeed website has put up a gallery and Slate magazine a slide-show of some of the best signs protesters are holding up, showing that, despite the angst and anger, a sense of humour still thrives.
