Cracked magazine, that website that takes bitter, sad facts about life and can spin them right back around with some pretty hilarious humour, is at it again with an article explaining the science behind the tricks stores use to make you buy crap.
It's interesting to discover that these scientific principles are based on people's low self-esteem: peer pressure, vanity, insecurity and the fact that humans just like shiny things.
The irony, of course, is that as you're reading the article, you're being annoyed by Cracked's "Like us on Facebook! Like us on Facebook!" banner at the bottom, which will cheerfully remind you just how Liking Cracked will make you more attractive to the opposite sex. It's just science. As you will learn from the article, it is science, leaving the reader with the dilemma as to whether to press that Like or not. Brilliant.
